The Bronze Award aims to produce a dog that will walk and behave in a controlled manner on the lead, will stay in one position on command, will allow its owner to clean, groom and inspect it. The dog must also be able to be positioned by its handler for inspection i.e. stand, sit or lie down on either side or on its back, all on the lead. The dog must come to hand when called. The Bronze award aims to provide the handlers with a basic knowledge of understanding and training their canine companion.
The Good Citizen Bronze Award is a 10 week course. Week 1 is the Induction Class and will explain everything you need to know about the course, homework and test. Weeks 2 -9 are training classes and the Assessment Test is on Week 10. The cost of the complete course is £65.00. Please use the “Contact Us” form for start dates of Bronze courses running throughout the year.
Please note that dogs new to the club, will be asked to attend for a prior Assessment before starting a Bronze course. Older puppies (7 months plus) and young dogs, that have not attended classes before are recommended to attend a workshop prior to taking the Bronze. This is especially useful for rescue and rehomed puppies and dogs, as it’s a gentle introduction to training classes. Please contact us for details and dates of up and coming workshops.
